Vanderventer Shelter - Trip Miles 428.4
Did 12 miles - What an interesting day! ( I almost feel guilty for loving all this wonderful time)
Sunny, warm days. Woke up at 2 AM - heard voices coming down the mt - saw night lights - when they saw my tent they went "oops" here are people tenting. We heard today that it was 3 thru hikers that are trying to hike 24 hrs straight to Damascus (50 miles) - Good luck to them!
Woke this morning just before 7 - leave camp around 9:30 - no rain nice cool spring day - good hiking weather. At Watauga Lake a newspaper reporter as permission to take picture and interview us to put in newspaper. Patches has his card - we snacked while we talked to him. Lake Watauga is the 3rd cleanest lake in the country. Today was the first day we hiked in green woods like we know.
