Wayah Shelter - Trip Miles 113.5

11 miles today - still raining....

In N.C. you climb over rocks - logs - straight up 3,000 ft for few miles - no switch back (use all 4's - crawl - then down - sit-sit. (Sometimes just laugh and wonder what we are doing out here) Hike is fantastic - met many new people (trail names: Spirit, Longhaul, Hot Pants, Icy Fingers, Mountain Man, Will & Way) Mountain Man loves his marshmallows & graham crackers - "SMOORS"

After Wayah Shelter we did 16 miles into Nantahala Outdoor Center (N.C.) still raining. We spent night in hikers hostel - dried out.

Had 5 days of rain -(the trail was ankle deep rivers - no matter if up or down hill - if not ankle deep water - it was ankle deep mud...... of course Crazy Lady loves it) wind like tornado or like southeastern in Cape Town, SA. We missed a lot of pretty views due to rain & fog....
