Taking a Hike

Tuesday, August 4, 2009

Had no water when we got up this morning - opened the bear box (a big steal box to put food in to protect it) - mice had got in the box - chewed 2 holes in my food bag (ate some of my trail mix and took a bite of my fresh bread) - OK is our glass 1/2 full or 1/2 empty (literally it is empty) - we packed up and hiked to our water source.

Then I realize....my glass is totally full all the time and sometime even overflowing. What a pretty place - how fortunate we are to be so close to nature. It is a glazier lake with deer drinking water - bull frogs serenading and surrounded by sweet fresh blue berries - what a feast! Blue berries originated in New Jersey - by a lady that mixed other king of berries together. The tad poles in this lake are about gold fish size - their bodies with the tail still on and hind legs just starting to develop.

We also now know that New England states are Connecticut and North - even with the Mason Dixon line at begin of PA.

Sleeping tonight at this falling apart camp site for groups - poor maintenance - we pitched our tents next to the lake - the tree frogs, bull frogs serenade us - so pretty. I swam with another thru hiker - enjoyed it a lot.

Today was our 1st warm day - 90 degrees in the sun - very nice - a wonderful day.

LIFE IS GOOD!
