Bear food - Square root - most of the time the plants are trampled and scattered - a sign of bears in area.

Today was fantastic day - hiked 15 miles. Fixed Patches back pack (the rod on 1 side snapped yesterday while hiking) - if you cannot duck it - it cannot go to Maine. Since Crazy Lady has double sets of sock needles (just in case) - the extra set of thin bamboo sock needles and duck tape worked wonders for back pack. You can get all colors of duck tape (for pretty not for function) - the old silver kind is does the trick. Duck tape around hiking poles has no function after a few weeks on the trail - works better around you pencil. The different colors of duck tape around hiking poles is just so you can recognize your poles. We hiked today over one of those suspension bridges - very neat! We camped at one of the most pretty camp spots on the trail - Dismal Creek Falls - indescribable pretty. We were at camp at 4 pm - only one other hiker. After a few hours more & more arrived - trail days are over and all hikers are back on trail - good to see hiker friends. At this falls - one guy jumped into the creek from the falls - pretty neat (but very cold). Patches bathed his feet in creek. We received wonderful trail magic. A guy was fishing and gave us 3 trout fish - we cooked it over fire in garlic and olive oil - it was delicious - it was like a feast. Again a new day - new experience - still having fun.
